They make Ace Attorney names sound plausible by comparison. It's as if the student council president were Presi Dent, the childhood friend were Chil Dhoodfriend, and the little sister were Littlesi Ster. Most notably the names: they're all just Japanese words descriptive of the character broken up to vaguely sound like names (that no Japanese person would actually think sounded reasonable). I just went back to look at the old thread about the game, and it reminded me that you had a point about the 'Japanese game being made by an American' issues. A few years later, it sounds like the game hasn't progressed much from that point. That's excusable for a work in early alpha, I suppose, but it didn't say good things about how close the game was to being finished. I dropped out of following the project a few years back when it turned out the lead developer was either a Gamergater or at least Gamergate-adjacent (notably griping about 'SJWs' getting his game blocked from Twitch or something along those lines), but even back then it seemed like an incredibly ambitious project that had a few interesting mechanisms, but loads more that needed to be done, and even more work that would be needed to pull all of those systems together into a coherent game.
